Once a potential destination for free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins, the Cleveland Browns are no longer part of the equation according to Adam Schefter

We all have known it for a while, even if admitting it isn’t easy. Top free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins is reportedly not an option for the Cleveland Browns.

While there may not have been much interest from the Browns themselves, it was fair to wonder if the team with the most cap space in the NFL would be interested in going after a proven veteran option rather than a rookie. That’s not even something to debate according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The NFL Insider claims Cousins will be deciding between four teams. That would be the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets.

It’s easy to see why the Broncos, Cards and Vikings are on the list. These franchises have strong defenses and plenty of options on offense. In Minnesota they should see running back Dalvin Cook back from injury and Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen are an excellent duo at receiver. Then there’s the defense, which is the best part of their roster.

As for Denver, the situation is similar. The Broncos have a great defense and they feature Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas as receivers. While both have been rumored to be trade bait, they currently look like a team that can compete with a viable quarterback.

Arizona is also a team with a strong defense, but their offense isn’t as promising as the other two. Running back David Johnson is amazing and Larry Fitzgerald is one of the best receivers in the game, but there’s a lot of questions outside of that.

The Jets seem like an outsider. Their roster isn’t great, but maybe a strong quarterback like Cousins could make up for some of the shortcomings.

Whatever the opinion is of any of those teams, the Browns reportedly will not be an option. So, how about that Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield debate?
