Round 6 Pick 179: Jake Wieneke, WR, South Dakota State

In Round 6 the Browns are just looking for potential. That leads them to grab South Dakota State wide out Jake Wieneke. He’s got size to spare at 6-foot-4 and 221-pounds, but wasn’t overly impressive in any drill. He had just nine bench press reps and a 4.67 time in the 40-yard dash.

He uses his size well to secure catches though and had 16 touchdowns in three of his four seasons as a member of the Jackrabbits. 2017 was actually his least productive season as it was the only time he didn’t hit 1,000-yards receiving.

Round 7 Pick 220: Jordan Thomas, TE, Mississippi State

And with their final pick in this 2018 NFL Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns take Jordan Thomas, a tight end out of Mississippi State. Again, this is a position group that the Browns feel good about as 2017 first-round pick David Njoku is expected to flourish in year two.

Next: Browns should trade up to No. 2

Then there’s Seth DeValve, who caught 33 passes a year ago. Thomas is merely coming in to fight for a position as the third tight end. Thomas has a lot of the physical tools and could develop into a weapon as a pass catcher. However, at this point he’s a pretty big project.
