Cleveland Browns: Needing to seek help from the outside
By Shane Carter
A look at six veteran NFL players who could be potential targets for the Cleveland Browns as they continue the rebuild entering the 2018 NFL season
In my previous article, I explored some of my favorite draft gems for the upcoming draft in April that the Cleveland Browns should target. I saw players that could not only help them within the next three years, this year included, but would give the team valuable depth moving forward. Something the team doesn’t have much of.
This time, I want to explore the NFL free agents and players put on the trade block that could help Cleveland immediately, and that the team could easily afford.
If teams like New England, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Denver and the Los Angeles Rams have shown us, it’s that you can build a really good roster quickly. However, you need to be able to attack free agency, the draft and trades all the same way; hard.
Admittedly, Cleveland is not a go to destination for free agents. That could all change in the future, according to Brad Ward, a Browns writer for SB Nation’s fearthesword.com who I had the pleasure of sitting down with and asking a few questions about the team.
"“It’s going to take time and a change in culture. I feel like Dorsey’s presence has already put this change into motion. Just the general feeling of potential established by the teams draft capital and cap space makes things look better from the outside looking in. “"
These are just a few potential players that the Browns could use, but they would also make a big difference. We start with a big fish with a big name.
