Round 1, No. 1 Overall: Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

The debate is starting now about what the Browns will do at the No. 1 spot. Some believe that they’re going to still get a franchise quarterback while others believe the move for Tyrod Taylor was one they can lean on for the time being. In this mock, the move for Taylor hints that they’re not comfortable starting any of the options in the draft this season, so they go a different direction altogether.

Their selection here is Penn State running back Saquon Barkley. The move will likely destroy Browns Twitter as fans and media members alike begin to claim the move either a huge success or a colossal failure. Wherever you stand on that debate, you have to admit Barkley is a game changing player.

What makes Barkley so good is his ability to win as a runner and a pass catcher. He never had less than 1,076 yards rushing in a single season and developed into a guy who brought in 54 receptions for 632 yards in his junior season.

After his career with the Nittany Lions, Barkley tore up the NFL Scouting Combine. He dominated in every category he participated in a solidified himself as the best player in the draft. With Taylor under center, Barkley at running back and a receiver group that includes Josh Gordon, Corey Coleman and Jarvis Landry, this offense could be rather impressive.
