Cleveland Browns: 5 free agents they can still sign
By Randy Gurzi
5. Marshall Newhouse, OT, Oakland Raiders
This isn’t a flashy name, but the Browns would do well to add some depth to their offensive line after the retirement of Joe Thomas. Although they had to deal with having Thomas out of the lineup to end the 2017 season, this is the first time they enter a year without him penciled in as the opening day starter.

That’s a tough pill to swallow as Thomas is a 10-time Pro Bowl player and seven-time first team All-Pro. He also played 10,363 consecutive snaps before a triceps injury ended his season and thus his career.
Ideally the team would find a stud left tackle in the draft, or they could slide Shon Coleman over there as well – which is something they have discussed. That would still leave a spot open, which again the draft could fill.
What we’ve seen from this front office though is that they won’t sit back and hope. They didn’t just wait on the draft to get a quarterback or running back, but instead went for Tyrod Taylor and Carlos Hyde.
Should they stick with that approach they could land someone like Marshall Newhouse. He’s never been a Pro Bowl caliber player, but 70 starts in 100 career games is a lot of experience to add.
