Browns offense: Better or worse after free agency?
By Thomas Moore
In: Tyrod Taylor
Out: DeShone Kizer
TBD: Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan
Tyrod Taylor is a clear upgrade over DeShone Kizer at the quarterback position. Taylor is accurate (a 62.6 passer as a starter), experienced (43 career starts) and does not turn the ball over (18 career interceptions).
He may also be the best player the Browns added in the past week as he is the ideal bridge quarterback.
Taylor is on the last year of his contract, so he will be motivated to earn a new contract, and is good enough to keep the Browns competitive, but not so good that Dorsey will have delusions about not selecting a quarterback with the No. 1 overall selection of the 2018 NFL Draft.
If all goes according to plan and the Browns make a return to prominence in a couple of years, they will owe Taylor a debt of gratitude for the role he will play this fall in making that happen.
Verdict: Quarterback position improved
