Round 1, Pick 4: Saquon Barkley, Running back, Penn State

Wait, how is Saquon Barkley there at No. 4 when the Browns didn’t take him at No. 1? The common belief is that if the dynamic Penn State running back isn’t the first guy picked that the Browns have no shot. That’s not really the case, and the New York Jets proved why.

New York made a move to go from No. 6 to No. 3, ahead of the draft. They still don’t know 100 percent what Cleveland will do and they sure don’t know what the New York Giants will do at No. 2. What they do know though is that the Browns will likely draft a quarterback and that the Giants could — or they could trade down as someone leapfrogs the Jets.

The Jets get that and they’re good as long as they get one of the top-three quarterback. In other words, quarterbacks will likely go one, two and three. That means Cleveland has to choose between Bradley Chubb and Saquon Barkley.

Let’s get this straight — there’s no wrong pick there. Either player will excel, but the presence of Myles Garret and Emmanuel Ogbah leads them to going for the explosive Barkley. He may very well be the best player in the draft and despite them having some new players on offense, he will be the biggest offensive weapon they have.
