Brice Butler, WR, Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys picked up wide receiver Brice Butler in 2015 after an injury to Dez Bryant. They needed some depth, so they sent a fifth-round pick to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for the young receiver’s services.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

In his first season with Dallas he was slow to learn the offense and managed just 12 receptions. Butler made the most of those however as he had 258 yards — good for an average of 21.5 per reception.

He had hoped a full offseason with the team would have been helpful, but 2016 wasn’t much better. Butler saw his yards per catch drop and still managed just 16 receptions. There were rumors of him struggling in practice and then he was hit with a huge penalty in the team’s playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers.

His last season with Dallas started out much better as Butler again became the deep threat Dallas wanted him to be. He had 15 receptions for 317 yards and three touchdowns, but as the season wore on, he was seen less and less on the field.

Butler then made waves saying he wouldn’t return to Dallas unless he was told he would start and that he could put up better numbers than Dez Bryant. While that was crazy talk, he does have the ability to get deep and burn teams. He could also be pretty cheap given the lack of interest in his services to this point.
