Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the news you need to know in order to keep up with the Cleveland Browns and the rest of the NFL
It’s the time of the offseason where things start to get weird. There’s been so much time between the end of the year until now that we start to get a little weird with our predictions. Well, some have anyway when it comes to what the Cleveland Browns will be doing with their first and fourth picks in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Most of us here at Dawg Pound Daily have been pretty consistent with our thoughts. The consensus seems to be a quarterback at one — although who that should be has been a topic of debate.
At No. 4 it’s been a different debate. Most have considered defensive end Bradley Chubb an option while others are locked in with cornerback Denzel Ward. However, no one seemed to be looking at defensive tackle Maurice Hurst.
Heck, no one has even considered defensive tackle as a first-round-worthy need for the Browns, but that’s exactly who the good people at Pro Football Focus have mocked to the Browns.

While we looked at a lot of the silliness surrounding the Browns and the draft, none has been more off than that one. Not only is Hurst not a top-5 talent on his own, but a heart condition sent him home from the Combine and that also has to worry some teams.
That story and more are the focus of today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Will the improved Browns be able to contend for a playoff spot? — ESPN (Pat McManamon)
"The Browns have improved, and they will improve more with the draft, but the playoffs are still not on the horizon in 2018. The Browns are installing a new offense, with a new coordinator, new quarterback, new running back and new receivers, which will take time and plenty of hard work. It’s simply a hurdle that is too tough to overcome in one offseason and one season. This isn’t to say it can’t work. Taylor already has been throwing to his new receivers, according to social media posts."

Jim Mora says he was “in no way being negative” toward Josh Rosen — Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk
"In days and weeks preceding the draft, a prospect’s college coach is expected to be over-the-top in his praise of the player. Typically, it’s all taken with a grain of salt, because that’s what the coach is supposed to say."
