Schedule makers did the Cleveland Browns no favors

One of the most useless exercises of the NFL offseason is to accurately evaluate a team’s schedule in April. However, by many standards, the new look Cleveland Browns will have to earn every victory they get.

On Thursday April 19, the NFL released the schedule for the 2018 Season. We took a quick look at what the Cleveland Browns will have on their plate, and here are my initial reactions.

What I like:

A bye week after Week 10: A good time to get ready for the last six weeks. And let’s face it, if disaster strikes, this would be the right spot to prep the rookie quarterback we’re almost certain to draft with the first overall pick.

That we’re not playing the Steelers in week 17.

That we have a prime time game at home: a week 3 Thursday night game against the Jets.

What I don’t like:

The Browns are tied for the fifth toughest schedule. Their 2018 opponents combined for a 134-122 record for a winning percentage of .523 in 2017. Five of their opponents made the playoffs.

Playing the first three games in 11 days.
