There are a few players the Cleveland Browns are counting on in 2018 and one who could be a breakout star in 2018 is defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi

In the midst of all this non-stop draft talk, it’s easy to forget the Cleveland Browns already have some very talented players on their roster looking to take that preverbal next step in 2018. One potential breakout star who could really turn heads this year is defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi.

A third-round pick out of Charlotte in 2017, Ogunjobi made the most of his opportunities as a rookie. He was a strong option as an interior defender who offered more versatility than veteran Danny Shelton and got plenty of time on the field in the 14 games he played.

Despite making just one start, Ogunjobi recorded 32 tackles and a sack. The rookie was actually graded just ahead of Shelton according to Pro Football Focus, who had Ogunjobi rated 82.0 and Shelton at 81.5.

While it would have been fun to see those two work together in 2018, the Browns have since shipped Shelton to the New England Patriots and they will now lean on Ogunjobi as their primary interior defensive lineman. Expect him to answer that call easily.

A small-school, the young defensive lineman saw his draft stock fly through the roof after scouts got an up close look at him during the Senior Bowl. He continued to show the same strength and quickness inside that he displayed for Charlotte even against the best of the incoming class of seniors.

That led to the Browns brining him in and nothing but positive news has come from him since then. With all the pressure on him to be the interior anchor, look for Ogunjobi to make some plays and get plenty of love as a 2018 breakout star for Cleveland.
