3. Eli Apple, cornerback, New York Giants

It’s easy to scoff at the name Eli Apple. He was the No. 10 pick out of Ohio State in 2016 and to this point has been quite a bust. While a lot of that’s on him, Apple was over-drafted but the New York Giants, which made it to where too much pressure was placed on him.

More from Browns Draft

Because of his lofty status in the draft, people have expected Apple to be a star from day one. Instead he’s been what he looked like in college, a player with strong traits that needs time to hone his game.

While Apple is still considered a bust, he did show marked improvement in his play in 2017 from his rookie season. While that should give the G-Men reason to hang onto him, Apple has given them other reasons to listen to a trade offer.

Apple had a public feud with teammate Landon Collins, which had the safety calling him out publicly. The second-year corner was also suspended to end the 2017 season by the Giants for his attitude.

It seems like a fresh start may be needed by all parties involved and the Browns could look to see what it would take to get the 6-foot-1, 201-pound corner during the draft. If the investment is low, Apple could be worth the gamble.
