Cleveland Browns: Don’t forget about Jamie Collins
By Randy Gurzi
With all the talk about the Cleveland Browns new defenders in 2018, it’s easy to forget Jamie Collins will be back and ready to roll after an MCL injury
Things are looking up for the Cleveland Browns, that’s for sure. They added plenty of weapons on offense that get discussed endlessly, but their defense is also better this season.
They went out and added a new safety in Damarious Randall as well as a couple strong corners in E.J. Gaines and Terrance Mitchell. They weren’t done there as they also spent the No. 4 overall pick on Ohio State corner Denzel Ward.
This is without mentioning the fact that both defensive ends Myles Garrett and Emmanuel Ogbah are getting better and ready to be a strong force — especially when paired with tackle Larry Ogunjobi.
But there’s still a guy who hasn’t been talked about much, linebacker Jamie Collins.
The athletic Collins was acquired during the 2016 season because of the way he could turn a game around with one play. Check out the video below where he destroys a field goal attempt while he was still with the New England Patriots.
He kept up that insane level of play once he got to Cleveland. In just eight games he racked up 69 tackles for the Browns, finishing the season with 112 in 15 games for the two franchises.
Sadly, Collins wasn’t much of a factor in 2017. Injuries cost him a lot of time and in just six games he had 31 tackles for Cleveland.
He was sent to the IR with an MCL injury, but should be ready to roll this season. With all the help around him now, Collins could find himself free more often to make some massive hits in the Browns defense.
Cleveland looks like a team that can run the ball and control the clock on offense. Doing so means they will count on their defense a lot.

Just don’t forget Collins will be a huge part of that in 2018.
