New Cleveland Browns linebacker Mychal Kendricks was introduced to the Cleveland media on Tuesday, and he made an interesting comment as to why he signed with the Browns over other teams.

The Cleveland Browns announced the signing of linebacker Mychal Kendricks on Tuesday. He also made his debut on the Browns practice field as he joined the team for OTA’s.

Kendricks met with the media for the first time since signing with Cleveland, and he explained why he decided to sign with the Browns over other teams, including the Vikings, where Kendricks’ brother currently plays, per Mary Kay Cabot from Cleveland.com.

"“I chose the Browns because it gives me an opportunity to showcase my talent, and I feel like their scheme fits me best,” he said. “I’m familiar with the coaches. And I want to a part of an uprising. That’s cool to me. I like that. You know what I mean? We’re going to win some games, and I want to be a part of that.”"

The one sticking point in that quote is when Kendricks says ‘I want to be part of an uprising.’ Around the league, the Cleveland Browns have been viewed as the bottom of the barrel. Nobody wanted to play for them and the perception was the organization will never figure things out.

But ever since John Dorsey has taken over as general manager, it seems that perception is changing. Maybe it started as soon as he was hired or when he made a flurry of trades before free agency began to acquire Tyrod Taylor, Jarvis Landry, and Damarious Randall.

The organization wanted to right the ship from the past two years and add quality talent to the football team. They wanted to get the organization heading in the right direction. They did just that during free agency when they signed nine new players in just the month of March.

And after adding a solid draft class, it appears the league’s perception about the Browns organization is that this roster could be a sneaky team and win a bunch of games, as pointed out in the Kendricks quote above.

Having a team that can go from 0-16 to winning a bunch of games would be considered an uprising. If the Browns can make it to the playoffs in the next three years, that would be considered an uprising.

It is evident that players around the league think that this Browns roster has the potential to win games at a rate that the organization has not seen since the team returned in 1999.

Players are no longer afraid to sign with Cleveland as they believe that this regime has the organization heading in the right direction. Having that type of culture is what all of the regime’s prior to Dorsey wanted.

If the Browns manage to break expectations and win a good amount of games in 2018, the 2019 offseason could be even more eventful for the Browns. But in just one quote from Kendricks, it is evident that the Cleveland Browns culture change is finally working and changing the league’s perception of the Browns organization.
