The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Christian Kirksey embracing the linebacker competition and more.

The Cleveland Browns lacked solid linebacker depth last season, which became noticeable when Jamie Collins went down with a season-ending knee injury in the middle of the season. It was an area that was expected to receive some attention from Browns general manager John Dorsey.

However, it almost seemed like an afterthought after the draft. The Browns drafted Genard Avery in the fifth round, but it was the only move they made to fill out the linebacker room.

But that was until the Browns signed linebacker Mychal Kendricks last week. Kendricks was released from the Eagles as he has wanted to be traded or released from the franchise because of a lack of playing time. Whoever he signed with when he was a free agent was expected to give him a bigger role than he had in Philadelphia.

Kendricks decided to sign with the Browns, and he is expected to start for Cleveland, which will add urgency to the three Browns starting linebackers from last year to win the other two starting linebacker jobs.

It is a competition that Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey is excited to be a part of.

That story and more can be found in today’s edition of Daily Dawg Tags.

The signing of Kendricks gives the Browns four starting caliber linebackers. It will be a competition all the way until the end of the preseason to see who the three starting linebackers will be for the Browns. With Kirksey being one of the leaders of the defense, it is good to see how he is embracing the competition.
