With LeBron James leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Los Angeles Lakers, second-year Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is ready to be the new king in Northeast Ohio

It was a tough pill for fans in Northeast Ohio to have to deal with yet again. LeBron James ended his free agency quickly by agreeing to terms with the Los Angeles Lakers. His departure leaves his title as the ‘king’ in Cleveland up for grabs and Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns is ready to take on that responsibility.

Garrett was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and he showed off his potential in his rookie year. Despite having to miss time with nagging injuries, Garrett proved to be more than capable of holding his own in the NFL.

Entering year two, there’s no reason to think he won’t improve beyond what we saw as a rookie. Garrett has said as much this offseason, talking up how strong the Browns defensive line can be.

He’s also ready for more off the field. After news of LeBron leaving hit social media, Garrett responded by saying he can take the throne:

Truth is the Browns having players talk about being the sports king in Northeast Ohio doesn’t sound so silly anymore. General manager John Dorsey has brought in a lot of talent this offseason in addition to studs like Garrett who were already on the roster.

As much love as there is for players like quarterback Tyrod Taylor and receiver Jarvis Landry, the fact is Garrett is the one ready to be the face of the Browns. With LeBron James now in Los Angeles, that could also mean being the face of Cleveland sports.

And Garrett is absolutely ready for that responsibility.
