Normally, an improved roster can help a struggling head coach get back on his feet. Hue Jackson, however, has an interesting road ahead of him. If he can’t get it done this season, with this roster, it might be all over for the current leader of the Dawg Pound.

Under no circumstances should a normal team keep their head coach after a winless season. The Cleveland Browns, however, are no normal team. Not only did they choose to retain Hue Jackson after a winless season, but they chose to retain him after two seasons with only one win to show for it.

The Browns were so enthralled with the signing of Jackson in January 2016, that they decided to give him one more shot.

Perhaps the roster wasn’t good enough the past two years, and none of this was Jackson’s fault. Maybe this was all a big misunderstanding, and Jackson can win with a solid roster.

Enter new general manager John Dorsey, who has totally rebuilt this Browns roster. While he has given the fan something to cheer for, he has also put his head coach in quite the precarious situation. In short, the Browns roster that Dorsey has built is now a ticking time bomb for Hue Jackson.

Touted as a “quarterback guru” coming into Cleveland, Jackson now has two legitimate options for his starting quarterback. Tyrod Taylor has proven himself as a viable, playoff-level game manager, and rookie Baker Mayfield is perhaps the most electric quarterback prospect of 2018.

Along with his premier signal-callers, Dorsey has acquired playmakers on both sides of the ball. Jarvis Landry, Nick Chubb, Mychal Kendricks, and Denzel Ward top the list, adding depth and star power to both the offense and defense.

Hue Jackson, if you cannot “get the job done” in 2018, you simply do not deserve to be the coach of the Cleveland Browns.

There are no excuses; this roster is up to par with some of the league’s wild card-contending teams. So, how will you handle this ticking time bomb of talent?
