With John Dorsey now calling the shots, players who don’t fit what the Browns want to do will be shown the door, even if they’re still good players. Such was the case when they traded nose tackle Danny Shelton to the New England Patriots.

Shelton is still a good player and will likely find a niche with the Patriots, but the giant tackle wasn’t ideal for the system being run by defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

Heading into this season, Larry Ogunjobi, Jamie Meder, Trevon Coley and Caleb Brantley make up the potential starters. While that isn’t a bad group of players by any means, they may want to improve on that group in 2019.

They target Dre’Mont Jones, the Ohio State defensive tackle who can win with speed and a great burst off the snap. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 295-pounds, Jones is a lot more potential than production at this point in his career.

That could change with a strong 2018 season for the Buckeyes, and if so he could be gone by the time the Browns are on the clock in the second round. As of now though, he seems like a viable option for them to try and bolster the inside of their defensive line.
