By Dan Justik
The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news that you need to know. Today’s featured story takes a look at the former Browns tackle transforming his body in retirement.
Former Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas has been busy doing different types of media since he retired from football this off-season.
During his time on different TV shows, most can notice that Thomas is starting to look a lot slimmer than what he looked like during his playing days.
It is very common for former offensive linemen to undergo major body transformations after they retire from the game. The effects from the transformation are most noticeable about a year or two post-retirement.

But for Thomas, his transformation has become very noticeable in less than a year after the last football game that he played. Although it is not surprising to see him slimmed down, the rate at which he lost the weight is somewhat shocking.
In today’s featured story, Thomas explains how he lost all of the weight since his retirement and what he thought about the lifestyle of carrying the extra weight to be successful on the football field.

Joe Thomas reaches 50 pounds in weight-loss journey – Nick Shook, Around the NFL
"And lose, he did. Fresh off the most losing season possible — Thomas’ Browns finished 0-16 — the tackle doubled down on the Ls, dropping the LBs for one massive W. The left tackle who spent most of his playing career playing in the 310-pound range has lost 50 pounds since he played his final NFL snap."
Although it is very common for linemen to drop weight following the end of their career, the speed at which Thomas has lost the weight is insane to think about. It goes to show everybody how absurd the diets that linemen have to have in order to maintain their size during the season.
53-man roster projection prior to training camp
With Cleveland’s training camp opening in just a few days, Randy Gurzi projects what the Browns’ 53-man roster could look like when they open the regular season in September.
"After falling short in kicking duels in each of the past two years with the Jets, Martin is hoping for a favorable outcome with his hometown Browns as training camp begins Thursday at team headquarters in Berea."
It is always fun to see players try to earn spots on their hometown teams. It will be an uphill battle for Ross Martin to make the Browns final roster, as he will have to unseat Zane Gonzalez who had a strong finish to the season last year.
