The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the incredibly poor performance of former draft bust Johny Manziel
Well, it’s safe to say ‘comeback season’ hit a snag. Johnny Manziel, the former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns, had a terrible outing in his first career start int he CFL. He threw a ton of picks, including some that were thrown in the middle of three defenders without a receiver in sight.
He did show some of his mobility that made him a star at Texas A&M and to be fair was new to Montreal — thanks to a recent trade. Even so, this was really ugly.
The story of Johny Football not being Johnny CFL and more can be found in today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Tags.

Cleveland Browns News
Johnny Manziel’s return to professional football less than stellar — Sam Khan, Jr. ESPN
"Johnny Manziel’s CFL starting debut was nothing short of disastrous. The former Cleveland Browns first-round draft pick had a nightmarish performance in his first start for the Montreal Alouettes, throwing four first-half interceptions in a 50-11 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats."
The former Cleveland Browns first-round pick was just bad in his debut. He had four picks — all in the first half — and his Montreal Alouettes lost to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 50-11. He was benched for former Oregon star Vernon Adams. Manziel was recently traded from Hamilton, where he was again behind a former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli. It’s probably safe to say the Tiger-Cats are good with the trade they made to move on from Johnny Football.
Mayfield throws first pick of camp in Browns’ scrimmage — Associated Press via Fox Sports
"Mayfield threw his first interception in training camp while Taylor had a pair of touchdown passes to Jarvis Landry, who made a spectacular, one-handed grab on the second one, as the Browns held their annual intra-squad scrimmage Friday in front of Cleveland fans desperate to see if a team that went 0-16 last season has improved."
The Browns’ newest first-round pick has been the exact opposite of Manziel so far, but he finally has thrown a training camp pick. Hopefully, he stays as smart with the ball when he is the starter.

Could Tyrod Taylor get a contract extension
General manager John Dorsey said the Browns could consider extending the contract of Tyrod Taylor if he plays well. Does that really sound like the best option? Even for Taylor, he may not want it as the No. 1 pick behind him gives him a short leash the more seasoning he gets.
