The 2018 preseason began this past weekend with the NFL Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, but the real action for most NFL teams begins on Thursday night. The Cleveland Browns open up against the New York Giants. Here are three things to look for in that matchup.
It has been a busy 8 months for the Cleveland Browns organization. The team hired former Kansas City Chief general manager John Dorsey to help turn this team around, and Dorsey has definitely made his mark on this 2018 Browns team.
It started quickly, as Dorsey sought to bring in players that would help this team now, and not a few years down the road. He started by making four trades on March 14, which included getting rid of the teams 2017 second round pick DeShone Kizer, and acquiring Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor and Miami Dolphins All-Star wideout Jarvis Landry.
Within the next few days, Dorsey brought in plenty of new faces to fill his roster, most notably on defense, with the signing of defensive backs T.J. Carrie, E.J. Gaines and Terrance Mitchell. Adding those players, along with Green Bay defensive back Damarious Randall, has Browns fans eager for this new look defense.
The team overall just has a new fresh look, and the fans and nation will be looking on Thursday night to get a glimpse at what all the hype is about. It all starts with seeing how the chemistry of the new faces will attempt to change the narrative in Cleveland ‚— starting with their first preseason game against the New York Giants.
