Offensive player I’m most excited to see: Nick Chubb, Running Back
It may not be the splashy name like Jarvis Landry or either of the quarterbacks, but that’s why Nick Chubb gets me so excited. He’s not the kind of guy who comes out with the explosive plays, but he’s a blue-collar workhorse who can carry the load as a running back. While he should start the season behind Carlos Hyde — their free agent pickup from the San Francisco 49ers — it will be hard to keep him on the bench.

Chubb was an exciting player to watch at the University of Georgia because he was the kind of back that completely wore defenses down. He’s a bruiser but can run faster than you assume. He’s also healthy despite what anyone says. Back in 2015, he may have had a devastating knee injury, but he carried it 224 times in 2016 and 223 times in 2017. Anyone who thinks his knee will be an issue is wrong. This dude is ready to be a star.
Defensive player I’m most excited to see: Damarious Randall, Free Safety
Fair warning, this is one ASU alumni excited to see another wearing the orange and brown. Bias aside though, Damarious Randall gives the Browns something they sorely needed in the past, a centerfield-type safety. His addition allows them to move Jabrill Peppers to strong safety — although he isn’t guaranteed to start there. Randall was a ball hawk for them and could very well be for the Browns as well.
