Rashard Higgins stepping up at wide receiver
There are reports that the Browns are shopping for wide receivers, with one big name being Dez Bryant. The former Dallas Cowboys wideout says he’s coming to visit Cleveland during their preparations for Week 2 of the preseason, which isn’t surprising considering how much back and forth has been out there regarding interest from him and the team.

If third-year wideout Rashard Higgins has anything to say about it, there’s no reason to even entertain the idea of adding any receivers. With Josh Gordon away from the team due to personal concerns, Higgins has been stepping up in camp.
He’s often finding himself on the field with Jarvis Landry and has a great connection with rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield. In Mayfield’s second drive with the Browns, he connected on his second pass attempt of the game with a perfectly thrown — and timed — pass to Higgins. The back shoulder fade went for 26-yards and highlighted how well Higgins is running his routes.
He’s been putting himself in position and earning his quarterback’s trust by being where he’s supposed to be. Then when he is targetd, he’s pulling in the passes. Higgins ended Thursday’s game with 66 yards on four receptions and there’s no reason to think he won’t continue to improve moving forward.
