The Cleveland Browns should be meeting with free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant this season, and many players seem to hope he winds up sticking around

The back and forth between free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant and the Cleveland Browns continues into the second week of preseason. There’s been a rumored interest from the team for a while, but Bryant himself only recently started to return the interest.

At first, there was the general manager, John Dorsey, saying Bryant wouldn’t return his calls. Then during their first preseason game, Bryant himself got on Twitter and said he would be visiting Cleveland.

Since then, players for the Browns have come out in support of the big-name receiver joining the team. Initially, we heard from quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who called the idea of adding Bryant “awesome.”

More from Dawg Pound Daily

"“I’ve said this before. We know what type of talent Dez brings to the football field. He’s been a very, very good player in his time throughout this league and he adds talent to the wide receiver room.” — Taylor said via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com"

Now wide receiver Jarvis Landry is chiming in, echoing the support Taylor has shown in signing Bryant.

"“If he wants to be here, then obviously we’re open arms and we’d love to have him,” Landry said via the Associated Press through ESPN. “He’d be a great addition to our team and our offense — for sure.”"

Head coach Hue Jackson has also talked up Bryant’s ability to help the team stating that there simply can never be too many talented players on a team. All of this makes perfect sense, but the question isn’t really about whether or not Bryant can help, the question is if he’s a good fit.

Cleveland has a young corps of pass catchers and Bryant has been volatile at times — especially when he isn’t getting the ball. Even if he joins, it’s not likely he takes targets away from Landry and he probably is still behind Josh Gordon when he does return.

So, would Bryant be happy being the third option? What about the fourth if tight end David Njoku is rolling?

These are the questions the team has to answer before signing Dez. The teammates may all be good with him coming in, but they need to make sure he’s going to be fine with what he signs up for as well. The last thing they need to do is mess with the positive chemistry they’re building.
