Cleveland Browns: Is Dez Bryant using the Browns?
By Randy Gurzi
After showing limited interest in the Cleveland Browns, wide receiver Dez Bryant is in town for a visit. But is his interest real?
The Cleveland Browns are working out wide receiver Dez Bryant after a long back and forth between the team and receiver.
Originally the team was said to be interested, but the reports out of Bryant’s camp made it sound like he was less than intrigued. From there Bryant was recruited by Jarvis Landry, the current No. 1 receiver in Cleveland.
That simply kept the rumor going, but then general manager John Dorsey said Bryant wasn’t returning his calls. All of that talk has not led to some action as Bryant is finally visiting with Cleveland.
On Thursday, he showed up and even was spotted signing a Browns helmet.
The question is whether or not Bryant really want some to be in Cleveland, or if he’s trying to get other teams to see he’s looking.

Throughout his career, Dez has been the No. 1 target. He’s also never been shy about wanting the ball and letting his team know he isn’t getting enough targets. In Cleveland, that will be an issue.
Bryant won’t only be behind Landry, but Josh Gordon could be there as well. There’s also the belief that Antonio Callaway could be a playmaker and tight end David Njoku looks poised to break out.
That puts Bryant in position to receive even fewer targets than he has last season with the Dallas Cowboys. One would have to think he wouldn’t be thrilled about that prospect.
So maybe, Bryant is trying to drum up interest. Since Dallas released him back in April, he’s had one offer — from the Baltimore Ravens. After turning that down, he’s taken zero visits, until now.
Either Bryant is finally realizing that teams don’t want him as the No. 1 wideout, or he’s keeping his name in the cycle at the Browns’ expense. If he really is interested though, the team has to be sure he understands what his role will be.
