Player on offense I would like to see more from: Austin Corbett

When Austin Corbett was drafted, it was assumed that he would be a plug and play player. Taken at the top of the second round, expectations are very high. Unfortunately, his play last against the New York Giants did not live up to any of the expectations.

Expectations should be tempered given that he is changing positions at the NFL level. He played all of his college career at left tackle. Even though he may not be a tackle in the NFL, he still needs to learn how to play guard.

Strategies and blocking are different at tackle versus guard. He is transitioning from playing in a lot of open space to playing the proverbial phone booth. It requires a different skill set and Corbett is finding his way. That said, he needs to find it a little bit quicker.

Player on defense I would like to see more from: Emmanuel Ogbah

Emmanuel Ogbah was the big winner in the Browns recent draft. Instead of taking pass rusher Bradley Chubb, the Browns chose cornerback Denzel Ward. This pick was an indictment on the secondary but it was also an endorsement of Ogbah. The team believes Ogbah can perform at a high-level next season.

His first pre-season game saw one major blown assignment that contributed to Saquon Barkley’s big run. But he seemed to settle in after that.

The problem for Ogbah was that he simply disappeared after that play. He was rarely seen making a mistake. Nor was he seen making an outstanding play. The Browns will need more out of Ogbah to justify passing on the best pass rusher in the 2018 NFL Draft.
