The Buffalo Bills are not happy with Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry for a block he made on the rushing touchdown by Carlos Hyde

There were some harsh words thrown at Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry following the team’s loss to the Buffalo Bills in the second week of the 2018 NFL Preseason. Landry was in on a touchdown run by Carlos Hyde and laid out cornerback Taron Johnson.

For his part, Landry helped free the running back up for the score and despite being under 6-foot tall, Landry prides himself on being a complete player. He also prides himself on being tough.

The Browns obviously were fine with the hit, as they praised Landry on their official Twitter account for doing the dirty work to get the job done. The Bills also thought it was dirty, but in a different sense of the word.

Linebacker Lorenzo Alexander didn’t hold back and called the block on his teammate “dirty” after the game.

"“Landry, he’s a good receiver, physical guy, but some of those plays that he has — Aaron Williams, Taron, I’m pretty sure he has other ones — I just think they’re dirty.” — Alexander said via Mike Rodak of ESPN."

Alexander brought up Aaron Williams, who was actually sent to the hospital thanks to a hit from Landry while he was with the Miami Dolphins. That one drew a penalty at the time and former head coach Rex Ryan called it “dirty” and said it was “unnecessary.”

Safety Micah Hyde of the Bills echoed the same sentiments of Alexander for the most recent hit and also called Landry’s play “ridiculous.”

It’s safe to say the Bills aren’t fans of Landry by any stretch. They seem to believe he plays too aggressively when delivering blocks. There certainly is a fine line between playing hard and aggressive and being labeled dirty. It’s also hard to decide what someone’s intent is.

Landry surely wasn’t trying to hurt Johnson on the play as he was looking to make a block to free his teammate up. It was a nasty looking hit, but the history between him and this team also likely plays into their feelings he’s a dirty player.

For the Browns, they like having a guy with an edge on their offense. Landry brings a confidence they haven’t had in quite some time and as long as he’s not getting flagged, they’re probably fine with the big blocks too.
