Roback/Paul Connection

My research into the Jake Paul/Brogan Roback mystery began finding clarity. I found a video of “Roback” working out for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I was befuddled and confused. Why would Jake Paul work out for the Steelers? But then the genius of the move became apparent. If Paul wanted to play for his hometown Browns, he would need to create a market for himself. What better way to create a market to leverage against the Browns than by working out for the Steelers?

If Roback/Paul’s plan was to get leverage on the Browns, then it worked amazingly. Unfortunately for Roback/Paul, the Browns did not draft him during the NFL draft. Instead they went with Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick. Not to be deterred, Roback/Paul was able to negotiate a three year free agent deal with the Browns. He may not have been the first overall pick, but he made it to the Browns nonetheless.

But something happened that Roback/Paul was not expecting. HBO’s Hard Knocks decided to feature the Browns. Roback/Paul’s plan to infiltrate the Browns would not have to account for the national exposure that comes with Hard Knocks. But Roback/Paul had a plan. He seems to have decided to tone down his normal verbiage and try to blend in while on camera. This plan should have helped him avoid suspicion.
