An ESPN report shows that the Cleveland Browns have some believers out there as they’re receiving a lot of bets to win the AFC North in 2018

People are betting on the Cleveland Browns to start winning in 2018. That’s not a metaphor, but it’s an actual statement as reports are coming out that a high number of bets are being placed on them to be significantly better this season.

According to a recent ESPN article, the Browns are receiving more bets than anyone else in the North to win the division, which is a bit surprising even with their big moves this offseason.

Perhaps more interesting is that David Purdum of ESPN says that they’re getting more bets to win the Super Bowl than three teams that were in the playoffs in 2017 — and one that went to the Super Bowl after the 2016 season.

More from Browns News

"“At MGM sportsbooks, the Browns have attracted more bets to win the Super Bowl than the Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars, who were playoff teams last season. Cleveland is listed at 60-1 to win the Super Bowl at MGM.” — David Purdum, ESPN"

Pinpointing the reason people are buying in is easy. New general manager John Dorsey brings a new attitude to this team. Players want to join and he’s done a great job of luring in some talented players.

New to the team through trade or free agency is quarterback Tyrod Taylor, running back Nick Chubb, wide receiver Jarvis Landry, linebacker Mychal Kendricks, and safety Damarious Randall. Dorsey also added quarterback Baker Mayfield, corner Denzel Ward and running back Nick Chubb in the 2018 NFL Draft.

This is in addition to potential breakout stars like Myles Garrett at defensive end, David Njoku at tight end, and Josh Gordon who is hopefully going to be practicing real soon.

While a Super Bowl may be a bit hard to obtain just yet, it’s a positive sign that the Browns are heading in the right direction and getting people to notice them.
