The Cleveland Browns have several obstacles, a brutal schedule among them, that make a playoff appearance unlikely. However, it’s August and that means hope springs eternal for every NFL team. Yes, we’re saying there’s a chance.

Playoffs? You’re talking about playoffs?! Actually, yes.

After two seasons that could best be described as brutal and forgettable, many fans would consider a 6-10 record significant progress. But the more fans see this team, the more excited we get. The NFL is built for teams to go from worst to first very quickly. Think of the Jaguars and Rams last year. With that said, here are five reasons the Cleveland Browns could make the playoffs.

5. They have more, and better, talent.

If there’s one thing John Dorsey has done since his arrival it is to infuse the roster with more talent, particularly at the positions that define success in the modern NFL. Former general manager Sashi Brown left Dorsey with an abundance of salary cap space and draft picks. In the past, new regimes have come in and tried to fill a roster with “their” guys.

The difference this time around is that Dorsey has seemed to find “the right guys”. Players who are looking to do more than just cash one last paycheck, but actually have both the ability and the desire to perform at a high level.

The starting 22 will feature close to a dozen new faces including Jarvis Landry, Carlos Hyde and Tyrod Taylor on offense and Denzel Ward and Mychal Kendricks on defense. And that’s not counting Josh Gordon who may finally be ready to deliver on the promise that he gave fans a glimpse of back in 2013.
