2. The Browns defense may finally be able to “Go Get Some”.
For all the improvement in the Browns run defense last year, the pass defense remained a challenge. Part of that was, by coordinator Gregg Williams’ own admission they lacked the personnel to run the “press man” coverage he prefers.

For a while, it seemed like the Browns were adding new cornerbacks every other day in free agency and then went ahead and selected Denzel Ward out of Ohio State with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Early signs are that 2017 first-overall pick Myles Garrett and his sidekick Emmanuel Ogbah among others may finally be able to get to the quarterback. If that happens, this defense will certainly be playoff-caliber.
1. The division may not be what it once was
To get into the playoffs, the Browns will have to be no worse than second in the AFC North. The Steelers still look formidable on offense with the killer B’s (Ben, Brown, and Bell), but the defense has not looked the same since the unfortunate injury to Ryan Shazier.
The Ravens are a team that appears to have one foot trying to get younger and one foot trying to squeeze out another run with some aging vets. This has rarely been a successful combination. The Bengals are continuing on with Marvin Lewis, but it’s fair to ask if this is a team that may need another voice.
