Cleveland Browns reportedly still interested in WR Dez Bryant
By Dan Justik
Despite reports that the Cleveland Browns were putting a potential Dez Bryant signing on the back-burner, new reports say the team is still interested in adding the free agent wide receiver.
Over the past few weeks, the Cleveland Browns have been showing varying levels of interest in free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant.
Last week, the Browns brought the 29-year-old receiver into the team’s facility in Berea for a visit. Prior to the visit, Bryant was publicly pressured by Browns general manager John Dorsey after Dorsey said that Bryant would not return any of his phone calls.
But following the visit, reports stated that the Browns were not pushing hard to sign Bryant after Josh Gordon announced his return to the team.
But according to NFL Network’s Mike Silver, the Browns are still very interested in adding the wide receiver.

The belief was that the team’s interest in Bryant was due to Gordon’s absence. Without Gordon, the Browns were without one of their game-changing receivers. In the eyes of Browns management, Bryant still has the ability to be a playmaker.
Behind Gordon and Jarvis Landry, the Browns do not have the deepest group of wide receivers. Rashard Higgins has been a bright spot this training camp, but needs to prove that he can consistently play well in the regular season. Antonio Callaway has made plays, but he is currently hampered with a groin injury.
Dorsey has not been afraid to add talent to this roster whenever he can, even to position groups that are loaded with talent – such as adding Mychal Kendricks to the linebacker group for example. Dorsey may feel that adding Bryant as another weapon could take the offense to the next level.
Bryant’s visit with the Browns was featured on the most recent edition of Hard Knocks, and Bryant seemed very enthusiastic to be in the building. He could have very easily just been playing up his attitude for the cameras. Despite that possibility, Bryant seemed excited to be in the building.
The Browns must truly feel that Bryant’s talent is still there and are comfortable with his attitude. But if they do work out a deal with the wide receiver in the coming weeks, there would be a lot of interesting characters in that wide receiver room.
