Cleveland Browns: Biggest concerns heading into the regular season
By Dan Justik
Can the young players continue to develop?
Although Dorsey added a bunch of new veterans to the roster, most of the Browns’ starters are young players in their second or third years in the league. With players like David Njoku, Emmanuel Ogbah, Larry Ogunjobi, Joe Schobert, and Jabrill Peppers, the organization needs those players to continue to develop.
A lot of the Browns’ plans this year rely on these players stepping up their game in 2018. Njoku is the best example because he has plenty of potential and is expected to be a play-maker in the offense. But if Njoku has a rough sophomore season, the Browns will have to change their offensive game-plan.
The same can be said for all of the young players on the roster. In order for the Browns to have a successful 2018 season, they need these players to take their play to the next level in 2018.
All signs point to the players playing either at the same level or improving in 2018 as they all have played well in the preseason. They need to prove that they can do it in the regular season against the starters.
Although most of the young starters have a lot of potential, it is risky to bet on them stepping their game up each season. Because if they don’t, it could be a long season. It is a chance that the Browns are willing to take this season.
