The Cleveland Browns kicked off their 2018 Season with a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. All the highlights can be found here.
It’s finally here. The Cleveland Browns start their 2018 Season with the goal being to “cleanse” themselves following a 0-16 campaign. The first team to start this cleanse against is none other than the Pittsburgh Steelers.
An AFC North rival, the Steelers are the perfect team to start off the year. Trying to put losses in the past, Pittsburgh was part of the team’s biggest loss in 2017. IN Week 17, playing against backups, Cleveland saw a dropped pass end their chances at a comeback.
As we all know, the quarterback and receiver involved on that final play are both gone. DeShone Kizer is in Green Bay with the Packers and Corey Coleman is looking for work after being traded to the Buffalo Bills and then being cut by them quickly afterward.

In this first game, the Browns will not have to deal with Le’Veon Bell as the Steelers running back is holding out after a second franchise tag in consecutive seasons. For Cleveland, they’re pretty much at full strength with E.J. Gaines being the only big name out of this one.
It also marks the first time we will see Josh Gordon available in a Week 1 game since his rookie season of 2012. This should be a fun one and for those who can’t catch this one live, we will keep you up to date with this Browns game tracker.

An early trip to the red zone ended poorly for the Steelers as rookie cornerback Denzel Ward picked him off at the Browns 10-yard line.

In the second quarter, Myles Garrett got his first sack of the season — and first on Roethlisberger. Check it out here. The Steelers later took the lead on a James Conner touchdown run — aided by a roughing the passer call on Garrett.

Ward ended another potential scoring drive just before the half when he picked off Ben Roethlisberger for the second time. It was their third of the game as Damarious Randall got one as well.

Cleveland attacked the Steelers on the ground to kick off the third. Tyrod Taylor ran a 20-yard touchdown that tied it up at 7-7.

That one capped a 10-play, 86-yard drive for the first touchdown of the 2018 season for the Browns, but was answered by a long TD drive by Pittsburgh to go back up 14-7.
Conner ran in a second touchdown in the third quarter and the Steelers went up 21-7. The defense seems to be getting worn out, that’s the depth concern coming into play.
The Browns cut it to 21-14 after a 1-yard touchdown courtesy of Carlos Hyde — came after a fumble recovery from Jabrill Peppers. The Browns defense continued to play hard and gave them another shot late. Taylor hit Josh Gordon for a game-tying TD with less than two minutes to go.
That proved to be the final score as two missed field goals (one by each team) led to a tie between the Browns and Steelers.
Following this game, the Browns will have to get ready for a road trip. They travel to Louisiana to take on the New Orleans Saints in Week 2.
