Stud: Larry Ogunjobi, Defensive Tackle

Larry Ogunjobi was a monster on Sunday. No one affected the New Orleans Saints offense as much as the second-year defensive tackle did. It felt like every time Drew Brees dropped back to throw, the pressure was there from several players. On third-down plays, Ogunjobi was there.

Ogunjobi ended the day with four tackles and two sacks. He would have had a third, had it not been for an illegal contact penalty on safety Derrick Kindred which negated the play and kept the Saints drive alive.

The most upsetting part about that overturned sack is it may have been the difference in the game. Cleveland was losing momentum after a 10-play drive stalled and Gonzalez missed the field goal. They were still up 12-3 but hadn’t put the nail in the coffin. Until Ogunjobi that is.

Facing a third-and-three, the Saints needed a conversion and Ogunjobi sacked Drew Brees for a nine-yard loss which should have led to a three-and-out. Instead, the penalty kept the drive alive and New Orleans got their first touchdown of the game and pulled to within two.

This game hurt for a lot of reasons, but the biggest has to be the way it erased such a dominant effort for the Browns defense — with Larry Ogubnjobi being one of the most dominant.
