Cleveland Browns News: Josh Gordon wasted his time with Browns
By Randy Gurzi
Perhaps you heard the Cleveland Browns traded Josh Gordon. His departure is the main topic of today’s news stories in the Daily Dawg Tags
It was a bittersweet day for the Cleveland Browns on Monday. They finally no longer have to worry about Josh Gordon. But that’s not because the wideout finally became trustworthy and is ready to contribute after six years of suspensions and failing the only team that would have stood by him this long.
No, it’s due to the fact he’s gone. The Browns traded Gordon to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round pick. And for those thinking we were robbed, the Browns only got that fifth-round pick by ensuring the Pats if he fails them too, they will give them a late-round pick in return.
Yes, Gordon is talented, but even a team that wants him needed some insurance on a fifth-round pick — let that sink in.

Josh Gordon’s Browns legacy: Wasted opportunity — Pat McManamon, ESPN
"It was time. A team can only live on hope so long, and the Browns stretched hope past its reasonable limits. Other teams, though, do not let go. They are enchanted by talent, dependability be damned."
Those who are angry about Gordon leaving need to look no further than the wideout to cast blame. The Browns were overly forgiving and he took advantage of the team time and time again. They’re better without him — and anyone saying that’s not true when he’s on the field — he has played 11 games since 2013. Goodbye.
Moving on from Josh Gordon best for the culture change
We kept hearing about this culture change but the first big sign of it was the team finally ending their relationship with Josh Gordon. Yes, you can come up with many reasons why he should have been given a second chance, but this guy missed games due to suspension in 2013, 2104, 2015, 2016, and 2017. There is no way you can sell a positive culture with him stomping on the team so frequently.
Browns’ Rod Streater: Signing with Cleveland — RotoWire Staff, CBS Sports
"The addition of Streater replenishes the Browns’ depth at receiver after the team traded away Josh Gordon (hamstring) earlier in the day. Most recently with the Bills, Streater is now on to his fourth team in as many years and will provide Cleveland with a valuable veteran presence in an otherwise youthful position group."
Like Gordon, Streater’s claim to fame is 2013. He had 60 receptions for 888 yards and four touchdowns since then. He hasn’t done a lot since, but he’s not suspended all the time!
Martin McConnell appreciates Carlos Hyde but understands he isn’t getting it done. It may be time to see what Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson can do with more touches.
