Cleveland Browns News: Hue not ready to anoint Baker Mayfield
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns got their first win in a very long time thanks to the spark given by rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield, but Hue won’t name him the starter just yet
It was one of the most exciting games for Cleveland Browns fans to watch in recent memory. Down 14-0 and in desperate need of a spark, Baker Mayfield gave that to them and more.
The rookie quarterback entered the game and led the Browns on a ferocious comeback and they ended up winning their first game in 635 days. What Mayfield did was great.
He showed up in the bright lights of prime time, with a two-score deficit, and played lights out. He methodically led them back into the game as the entire offense looked better with him.

What’s even better than this one win though is the fact that the Browns have their quarterback. Mayfield proved he’s the future of the franchise — but head coach Hue Jackson isn’t ready to start him yet. First — he needs to see the tape?

"Jackson wants to evaluate the tape before announcing who his starting quarterback will be when the Browns travel across the count"
Jackson has a hard time admitting he’s wrong — he’s one of the more prideful coaches despite the worst winning percentage in NFL history. He was wrong to keep Mayfield on the bench and should just name him the starter. The fans deserve it and so does the team who busts their rear and looked better with Mayfield.
