Just two short weeks after teammate Denzel Ward won the NFL’s Rookie of the Week award, No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield has won the honor himself. That’s two pieces of hardware on the year for the Cleveland Browns, and hopefully, there are many more to come.

It seems that Cleveland Browns general manager, John “Buddy Boy” Dorsey, knocked it out of the park in the 2018 NFL Draft. If weeks one through three are any indication, Dorsey spent the No. 1 and No. 4 overall picks on two future stars.

Two weeks ago, Denzel Ward was the first Browns rookie since Corey Coleman in week two of 2016 to win the NFL’s Rookie of the Week award. While Ward‘s performance was nice, he was not the one to lead the Cleveland Browns to their first win in 635 days.

That honor goes to No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield, who, just like Ward, saw his efforts rewarded with a Rookie of the Week distinction.

During week three, Mayfield threw for 201 yards in just over a half of football, completing 73.9 percent of his passes against the New York Jets.

Many congratulations to John Dorsey, the Cleveland Browns, and most of all, Baker Mayfield. Hopefully, Mayfield and the Browns can take home much more significant hardware at the end of this season, but Rookie of the Week will have to do for now.

And sure, he may have only one half of football, but if that half is any indication of what the Browns are getting in Mayfield, John Dorsey picked a great one.
