Mayfield’s first touchdown came after another Browns rookie scored his first career touchdown. Nick Chubb has not been on the field for a lot of offensive snaps, but he made his case for to earn more snaps,.
Chubb blasted through a big hole on the right side of the offensive line, broke a tackle, and out-sprinted the Raiders defense for a 63-yard touchdown run. Despite the run, Chubb has yet to get more snaps, as he only has one other carry for one yard.
The Browns defense has played well, once again getting to the quarterback and creating turnovers. E.J. Gaines made an interception at the end of the second quarter, stopping any chance for Raiders points.
The defense has caught some breaks that has helped keep the Raiders out of the end zone. Oakland running back Marshawn Lynch seemed to be on his way to a long touchdown after breaking free of multiple Browns tacklers. But the refs blew a quick whistle, saying his forward progress was stopped.
Martavis Bryant also dropped a would-be touchdown, as he was wide open in a broken Browns coverage. Despite a good pass from Derek Carr, Bryant was unable to haul in the pass.
The Browns defense was able to string together multiple stops in the first quarter. But as the first half went on, they were giving up chunks of yardage to the Raiders, allowing them to march down the field on multiple occasions.
Joe Schobert leads the Browns defense with seven total tackles, including a sack. Terrance Mitchell left the game early due to an arm injury.
