The Cleveland Browns aren’t satisfied with their 1-2-1 record to this point but rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield thinks they’re about to fix their issues

We all know the issues he’s talking about. The Cleveland Browns have been so close to winning. In Week 1, it was a blocked field goal that ended their game in a tie. In Week 2, it was several missed kicks and an ill-timed interception.

Then after a win in Week 3, it was four turnovers and too much time left on the clock for a Raiders comeback. The frustration of either losing or tying three winnable games is evident, but man this team is finally really, really close.

And they know it.

Rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield was under center for their first win in 635 days as he orchestrated a comeback win over the New York Jets. He then nearly led them to their second-straight win against Oakland, but they couldn’t overcome the turnovers and a bad call late in the game from the refs.

Even so, the rookie thinks the team is close to getting their issues fixed and putting up some wins. He said during a press conference that they can start getting some wins if they just do the little things.

"“We are very close,” Mayfield said via Matthew Florjancic of WKYC.com. “It just so happens that some of those little errors cost us the ball on my part. We are very close on it. That is the positive outlook on it. Obviously, disappointing to lose when we can fix a couple of things and come out with a win. It did not turn out that way, so we have to get it fixed.”"

He went on to stress being careful with the football, which he was in Week 3, but not as much in Week 4. While mistakes are to be expected during his rookie campaign, Mayfield is right that learning from those and improving will be key to his success — as well as the teams.

Mayfield is part of an incredible rookie class that includes cornerback Denzel Ward and running back Nick Chubb. They’re all young and learning the NFL, but the outlook is bright. It won’t be long until they put it all together and become threats in the AFC.
