Cleveland Browns News: Fair weather fans coming back?
By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know. Today’s stories include a question about whether fans returned this season.
We are turning the page on Week 4 as the Cleveland Browns prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5. What’s great about this matchup is that even though the Ravens are playing great this season, it doesn’t feel like a one-sided matchup.
That’s because the Browns simply aren’t the same team that was 0-16 last season and 1-15 the year prior. That kind of losing is now in the past as Cleveland has been close to winning each one of their games this season.
Knowing the way they’ve competed this season caused one Cleveland.com writer to ask if any of the fans who abandoned the team during that 1-31 stretch have returned.

I will say this much ‚— there probably weren’t many who left. Browns fans are passionate and loyal and stick with their team through everything. It’s highly unlikely any true fans ran for the hills during the drought seasons.

If you abandoned the 1-31 Browns, are you back now? Tell us — Doug Lesmerises, Cleveland.com
"As the Cleveland Browns lost 31 of 32 games and finished a winless season a year ago that served as a lasting embarrassment, the questions weren’t only about what was happening then.People wondered what the misery was doing to the future of Browns fans.Would a younger generation never engage with the Browns and be lost to the Steelers or some fresh, fun, winning team with interesting players, like the Eagles or Cowboys?"
Let’s be honest, if you’re not a fan when the team is losing, can you be one if they start showing promise? Of course, there’s also something to saying that you won’t support a team that you don’t feel like is dedicated to winning. Still, true fans stick around no matter what. And the Browns have some of the best fans in any sport.
Grading the first quarter of the 2018 season
Our own Joel Cade has studied film from every game this season and issues his first quarter report cards for the Cleveland Browns. Where does each unit stand? He lets you know — and it’s not all pretty.
Browns sign DB Arrion Springs to practice squad — ClevelandBrowns.com
"Springs (5-11, 208), a rookie out of Oregon, was originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in May. He spent this offseason and training camp with the team before being waived during final roster cuts. Since the start of the regular season, he spent time between the Chiefs’ and New Orleans Saints’ practice squads"
Our own Shane Carter is big on the potential for this kid. He’s replacing Jeremiah McKinnon, who replaces the injured Terrance Mitchell.
Baker Mayfield: Cleveland Browns ‘very close’ to fixing issues costing team wins
"“We are very close,” Mayfield said. “It just so happens that some of those little errors cost us the ball on my part. We are very close on it. That is the positive outlook on it. Obviously, disappointing to lose when we can fix a couple of things and come out with a win. It did not turn out that way, so we have to get it fixed.”"
Baker has the attitude we need under center. He holds himself accountable and it seems believable when he says the team is close. This guy has always found a way to win and should continue that in his NFL career.
