Just one short week after teammate Baker Mayfield saw a trophy added to his case, Browns rookie Nick Chubb has won his own hardware. In response to his breakout game against the Oakland Raiders, the former Georgia Bulldog has won NFL Rookie of the Week.

It is hard to make an impact as a rookie in the NFL. Any rookie, in any sport, can tell you that being a rookie is hard business, both on and off the playing field. However, it hasn’t been very hard for the upstart Cleveland Browns this season, as their rookies have shown up out through four games.

For the third time in the 2018 season’s opening four weeks, a Cleveland Brown has taken home NFL Rookie of the Week. This week’s winner? Running back Nick Chubb.

Chubb’s knack for power rushing, mixed with just the right amount of finesse, has made him a force for a budding Browns offense. On just three carries, Chubb went for 105 yards and two touchdowns, including this 63-yard beauty.

Yes, Chubb has made it look easy this year, with 146 yards on just 10 carries. Without a doubt, offensive coordinator Todd Haley should be scheming more and more plays for the former Bulldog.

This makes three different rookies through four weeks for the Browns. Denzel Ward, Baker Mayfield, and now Nick Chubb have all been tremendous throughout the early goings of 2018. Nothing comes easy in the NFL, and the team has seen just one win in four attempts, but the young core is clearly there. The Browns should have, at the very least, a fun squad to watch as the season unfolds.

Sustained success as a rookie is hard, and it’s unlikely that Chubb will continue his 35-yard per carry average throughout the season. But, it’s nice to know that the Browns might have a new bellcow back to take the reigns from Carlos Hyde.
