The Cleveland Browns demoted Tyrod Taylor and rumors about him being traded have followed. When asked about being traded, he didn’t shoot the idea down.

The plan this season was for Tyrod Taylor to be the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback all year. Unfortunately for him, a concussion ended that as he was forced out of the Week 3 game against the New York Jets.

This led to rookie Baker Mayfield coming in and leading the Browns to their first win in 635 days. Although he and the team lost the next game, he’s shown that he’s the better option as the offense as a whole is better with him under center.

Knowing he would only be used if Mayfield suffered an injury himself has led some to wonder if perhaps Cleveland could look to trade Tyrod Taylor. While he does provide a valuable backup, he could potentially bring in a draft pick which could be useful since he will end up leaving in free agency this offseason.

Recently Taylor was asked about a potential trade and while he didn’t say he wants out, he didn’t exactly say he was opposed to the idea. According to Tony Grossi of ESPN, Taylor said that’s something for his agent to answer.

"“We’ll see. That’s more of a question for my agent. We talk. I wouldn’t necessarily reveal that to the media.” — Taylor via Grossi of ESPN"

Taylor did say right now he’s working on getting healthy as he’s also had a back injury in addition to the concussion he got the other day. While the Browns won’t trade him before he is healthy, doing so could make sense.

Getting something in return for Taylor now could potentially be better than holding onto him and then waiting for a compensatory pick following the 2019 season. It could also be good for Taylor should there be a team needing a new starter.

dark. Next. Does it take a CSI crew to watch replays?

For what it’s worth, the team hasn’t shown any signs of wanting to move on from Taylor. It’s just interesting that he didn’t come straight out and say no to the idea.
