Stud: Jamie Collins, Sr., Linebacker

Often forgotten about, Jamie Collins, Sr. reminded us all on Sunday why the Browns were so happy to get him from New England in 2016. He was the first real star on this defense and was given a huge contract extension after coming over. Then in 2017, he struggled with injuries and missed most the season.

Then we all started getting excited about the play of Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey — and rightfully so as they were both top-five in tackles last year. We also got hyped about Mychal Kendricks, who was signed in the offseason but then released when it was discovered he was involved in insider trading. All that made Collins and his skill set fall to the back burner.

But on Sunday, it was Collins who stepped up. He finished with 12 total tackles and a sack as he was all over the field. In a game where every stop mattered, Collins was phenomenal.

Dud: Greg Joseph, Kicker

Yes, he made the game-winning kick, but the field goal by Greg Joseph may go down as the ugliest game-winner in NFL history. In his defense, it was partially blocked, but it wasn’t the first time one of his kicks spun and circled around through the uprights.

They also may not have needed overtime if Joseph were more accurate. He missed an extra point after the Rashard Higgins touchdown and couldn’t hit on the 55-yard kick at the end of regulation — even though he had enough leg. It will be interesting to see if the team sticks with him after a shaky outing.
