Could the Cleveland Browns be looking for an upgrade in their return game by bringing in former Philadelphia Eagles receiver Josh Huff for a workout?

The Cleveland Browns worked out several players earlier this week with Rishard Matthews being the biggest name on the list. He’s probably also the player most would like to see land with the team, especially after learning of a sprained MCL for Rashard Higgins who has been playing well at the same position.

However, there’s another name on the list of workouts that could be rather interestingJosh Huff.

The former Philadelphia Eagles return man would make a lot of sense in Cleveland, even if he’s not there to help much as a pass catcher. Instead, Huff could give the team a legitimate return specialist, which is an area they need to see some improvement in.

This isn’t to knock Jabrill Peppers, the second-year safety who mainly handles those duties.

Peppers has been playing much better on the defensive side of the ball and landing someone like Huff could actually give the team a shot in the arm on the special teams unit, while also taking some of the load off Peppers so he can become even better at safety.

Originally drafted by Philly in the third round out of Oregon, Huff spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints but has not played in a regular season game since 2016.

Huff did run into some trouble during his time with the Eagles as he was arrested in November 2016 and charged for marijuana possession.

In his career, the 26-year old Huff averaged 25.8 yards per kick return and took two back to the house for six. He’s added 51 receptions for 523 yards and four more touchdowns.
