Cleveland Browns to enshrine Joe Thomas’s snap streak this Sunday
After a tremendous, sure-fire Hall of Fame career with the Cleveland Browns, Joe Thomas will see his historic snap streak enshrined into the Browns’ Ring of Honor this Sunday. Before he heads to Canton, the NFL’s former Ironman will see his efforts etched in history.
Since 2007, Cleveland Browns fans haven’t had a lot to cheer about. Sure, they put together a 10-6 season in 2007, but they didn’t even make the playoffs that year thanks to simple bad luck.
The current roster is loaded with defensive talent, but rookies will always have ups and downs as we have already seen — but there have been many more ups to be excited about.
The one constant from 2007 to 2017 for fans to get excited about was left tackle Joe Thomas, and his incredible performances protecting quarterback after quarterback. This Sunday, Thomas will be honored by the Cleveland Browns.
But, instead of retiring Thomas’s famous No. 73, the Browns have gone for a different approach. They will instead by enshrining No. 10,363, recognizing Thomas’s extraordinary snap streak which lasted his entire career.
Thomas never missed a snap, from his first game as a rookie, until going down with an injury in October, 2017.
Thomas now co-hosts The ThomaHawk Show podcast with Andrew Hawkins, is a member of ESPN Cleveland, and makes sporadic appearances on ESPN television. He’s also a big supporter of the current Browns team.
But above everything, Browns fans everywhere will remember he and his historic snap streak forever. A big congratulations to Joe Thomas; you’ve certainly earned this honor.
