Cleveland Browns vs Chargers Predictions: Looking to stay undefeated at home

Week 6: Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are in an unfamiliar position. They’ve won two games for the first time since 2015 and are rapidly becoming one of the hottest “brands” in the NFL. And with good reason, three out of their five games have gone into overtime and the other two games were not decided until the fourth quarter.
The next step for the Browns is stringing together victories. Standing in the way of that are the Los Angeles Chargers who come into First Energy Stadium loaded with offensive weapons and a defense that, even without defensive lineman Joey Bosa, is still formidable.

The Browns faced a high-flying offense in week two when they visited the New Orleans Saints. In that game, offensive coordinator Todd Haley took the air out of the ball in an effort to keep quarterback Drew Brees and his embarrassment of riches on the sideline. However, the starting quarterback that day was Tyrod Taylor. It will be interesting to see how Haley chooses to play this with Baker Mayfield as his quarterback.
Mayfield has played better than expected. Most of what Browns fans have seen is good. And there is, of course, some room for improvement. With teams seeing more and more tape on Mayfield, they will design defensive schemes to make him uncomfortable. Fortunately, the Browns have a trio of running backs that are helping shoulder some of the load, and a defense that continues to be a turnover machine.
I don’t see the Browns keeping the Chargers out of the end zone as they did with Baltimore. The question will be if their offense can keep up. This game may very well come down to special teams, and the Browns special teams unit has been less than special this year. For that reason, I think the Browns get edged out in this one.
Final Score: Los Angeles 27, Cleveland 20
