Free agent options

There are two free agent wide receivers that have been No. 1 and No. 2 receivers in the past that the Browns have worked out in 2018: Dez Bryant and Rishard Matthews.

More from Browns News

The Browns brought Bryant in for a visit during the preseason, but they could not come to an agreement on a deal. Since that time, there has been no talk of the two sides reigniting negotiations. Bryant remains a free agent, and no teams have shown much interest other than the Browns.

Matthews had a workout with the Browns last week. But the Browns let Matthews leave without a deal and go to his next workout with the Arizona Cardinals. He left that workout without a deal, and he also remains a free agent.

But despite the Browns showing interest in the past, it seems unlikely that they would make a deal with either player.

The Browns knew they were having issues at the wide receiver position last week, and they decided to not make a move on Matthews. Even with the problems at the position getting worse, the Browns must not have been impressed with his workout.

Bryant being signed also seems extremely unlikely. With how much time has gone on without negotiations, it appears that the Browns have moved on from Bryant.

There are some veteran wide receiver options available, such as Jeremy Maclin or Braxton Miller. But the Browns may decide to go with more depth options instead of adding a veteran that would want significant playing time.
