Bring in a familiar face

There are some options available to the Browns that would be headline worthy if they acquired one of them. But adding those types of players do not look like the most likely scenario for the Browns.

If the Browns were to bring in a wide receiver in the next week or so, a player that was with the Browns during the preseason seem like the most likely options.

Despite the Browns being extremely thin at the position, Breshad Perriman should be available for the Browns against the Buccaneers. Higgins is also week-to-week, and he may be ready to return in the next week or so. Streater will be out for the year, but he was not playing much on offense anyway.

With players either returning or becoming available, it would make sense for the Browns just to add a depth piece instead of trying to make a big move.

The three names that stand out as options are Jeff Janis, Da’Mari Scott, and C.J. Board. Scott is the only player that is still with the Browns, as he is currently on the team’s practice squad.

Janis did not provide much receiving help during the preseason, and his lack of playing time was telling of how the Browns felt about him. But he has a connection with the Browns front office, and his veteran presence would be solid for a depth wide receiver. He also provides good special teams play.

Scott and Board are both young wide receivers, but they were impressive during the preseason. Board did suffer a shoulder injury in his last preseason game. If he can prove to be healthy, he would be a viable option for Cleveland. Scott being on the practice squad makes him the most likely to be added of the three
