After another loss in a close game, the Cleveland Browns sit at 2-4-1 on the season. This has to beg the question of how many more chances Hue Jackson has left

For the fourth time in the first seven weeks of the 2018 NFL Season, the Cleveland Browns needed some extra time to determine a winner. This week, their overtime game ended on a 59-yard field goal for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The loss dropped the Browns to 1-2-1 in overtime and 2-4-1 overall on the year. It’s a better mark than the past two seasons in which they went 1-31, but they’re proving they have the talent to be even better — they just aren’t getting the wins.

It’s hard to blame one area for the shortcomings as the Browns just seem like a poorly coached team. They have the most poorly timed penalties, mental lapses, and can’t capitalize on turnovers.

For example, the Browns won the turnover battle in Week 7 four to one. Out of those four turnovers, Cleveland managed just seven points. While that touchdown helped them get back into the game, they could have won if they were able to make more out of the gifts their defense gave them.

This has been an issue all season for them as the defense has been stellar at taking the ball away. As good as they have been in that area, the offense is even worse at doing anything with it.

These issues, as well as the penalty problems, all fall on the shoulders of their head coach Hue Jackson. He’s appointed himself as the CEO of the team, but he still sets the tone. Ans with a coaching record of 3-35-1 (and 0-19) on the road, it’s hard to argue that he’s setting the right tone.

Having that been said, is it time to finally consider moving on from Hue? His defenders all claim he hasn’t had the players to win, but that’s not really true. The Browns have fielded better teams than say, the Buffalo Bills in 2018, but even that franchise has a couple wins.

Plus, this Browns team has been in the mix in every game except for their Week 6 loss and they have been finding ways to disappoint over and over.

The rope for Jackson has to be running short. He’s been given plenty of chances, but the front office may be running out of patience.
